Medical Articles on Sugar Gliders - 12/25/10 06:05 PM

I thought I'd share this with some of you. I like PubMed because I have access to all sorts of scientific documentation and references (instead of the anecdotal evidence pet owners can provide!) and found some interesting ones on sugar gliders.
Laser Neutering for Sugar Gliders done on males 2-24 months: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19368264

Feeding Behavior/Nutrition of Sugar Gliders, states pet owners diets may be too high in excess protein and have improper Ca/Ph ratios: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19341949

Seasonal Changes in the Thermoregulation pf Sugar Gliders, gliders in outdoor aviaries studied during all seasons, gliders are able to increase heat in winter and reduce energy expenditure to conserve heat: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11765973

Behavioral/Endocrinological Changes in male sugar gliders: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8047580

(lol I don't use the site much so some of these I don't know how to find the full articles..)

I can only read the abstracts, I think you have to have a subscription to the site to read the full articles. The feeding one I clicked on first, it looks a LOT like Dr. Dierenfield's previous study that compared 2 diets and 1 control group, which the validity of that study has been both defended and questioned many a time on many forums.

I poked around for a while and basically if you want the full article you have to purchase it.
