Subtle attack on PocketPets today!

Subtle attack on PocketPets today! - 11/16/08 12:29 AM

Hey all,

we were at the NJ pet expo today to see if we could get a bigger cage for Joey (who's a big boy now and needs a big boy cage smile ). Pocketpets was there. We originally bought out suggie from pocketpets back in June, but since joining you wonderful people have found out the evils of that company. So we hung around the pocket pets booth and talked to as many new suggie owners as possible and told them the real deal and where to find the info.
Later we went over to the Red Bank vet booth (who's Joey's vet) and told them and they led us over to the Expo manager. We told her all about the evils of pocketpets and gave her this site URL. She's going to contact everyone who bought a suggie from them this weekend and let them know the truth.
That and she said she's been getting a lot of complaints about them this weekend and is rethinking inviting them back to the Expo!!

Hah!! Take THAT pocketpets! Get this: they offered to Neuter Joey for us...yeah..right on SITE at the expo! Does the pet expo sound like the healthiest, most sterile place to neuter a poor pet to you?! I almost slapped him. Those people are never laying their hands on our Joey every again.

Score one for GliderAddicts everywhere!

Did you ask HIM if HE WANTED TO BE NEUTERED at the fair? And tell him it'll only take a minute and it might tone down your behaviors of RIPPING PEOPLE OFF???

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh PPP ticks me off!!!!!!!!!

Re: Subtle attack on PocketPets today! - 11/16/08 03:12 AM

there was a guy on another site that wanted to know if he could fix his glider himself, by 'tying off' the poms w/a rubber band., or a string of some sort.
my mouth dropped!!! i couldn't believe i was reading something that barbaric!!i guess he's a farmer, or something, & some of his livestock have been done that way.
he & his vet were going to do this.
is this maybe how this stupid ppp guy was planning on fixing him @ the expo?!!!
i don't think the 'farmer' did fix his glider that way, not after he got an earfull from the rest of the group, @ least i sure hope he didn't!!!

That is terrible. I cannot believe anyone would even think about doing something like that.

Tanya, great job. Do you have the show manager's name or contact info? The Mill Breeder Project would like to talk to them. If you have any more info, could you pm it to Linda Sardou or me? Thanks so much.

To everyone, this is just a reminder of the difference just one person can make.

I sure wish it could have been that easy here. I worked my tail off for 10 days EVERYDAY all day too and got no where. I contacted everybody including the local TV station. I was able to only get animal control and The USDA to check them out but (because of tv station) they had all their stuff together. I did get info out to the new buyers but I was not able to stop them from selling. I have only heard of 1 dieing out of over 500 sold. And I have been watching the local craigs list and such and have not found people rehoming.

A very big CONGRADULATIONS to you!!!

I have livestock and I still wont fix my boys that way. I have a vet and he gets paid to do it right. For this my sis-in-law and my neighbor call me ignorant! I hope they one day can feel the pain of what they do to these poor animals.

Don't want this to get lost ... The Mill Breeder Project is trying to coordinate efforts to get Mill Breeders shut down ... Please let Kate know what information you have ...

Re: Subtle attack on PocketPets today! - 11/17/08 04:26 PM

dunno I can't believe they would offer to neuter ON-SITE! I wonder, if somebody said "yes" during that show? If so, maybe something more substantial can be done about that? dunno
I bet there was no vet, and what can they POSSIBLY do that's legal, to neuter right there? (I heard rumors of them using pocket knives, but I DON'T know if that's true)...

clap Bravo Tanya clap

Thank goodness they where all neutered BEFORE selling them here. I do not want to think about how but sure am glad it was already done and ALL boys where done too. So nobody could buy a breedable male here at the fair.

Shannon, they'll be in several different cities all over the country at the same time. They have like 15 different regional sales people and are looking for more. I know here the people at the Xmas show this past weekend in Indianapolis was from a unrelated branch of PPP than the gropu that was at the Home show earlier this year. One is out of Tenesse and the other from St. Louis. Unfortunately, They are every where. They are now starting to slightly change their name up to offset their negative press that all of us provide. Again unfortunately I think they are gonna make it harder for the average person to Identify them so w'll have to keep on informaing everyone as much as possible.
