Bonding Tent Suggestions - 02/12/08 03:06 PM

I have one already thats a pain to put up. So, I'm looking for a good bonding tent thats easy to put up.

I'd really like a durable, totally enclosed, not huge, pop up(not the ones you have to assemble with poles). Not asking for much am I. LOL Any suggestions?

I've heard Wal Mart has great (CHEAP TOO!) popup tents! Maybe you could check their website, or just go to the store!

HTH I know it's not much but I try haha smile

Actually thats where I bought the one I have. They don't have any of the pop up ones. Only ones you have to assemble at my local store but I'll check online. Thanks for the suggestion. Any other suggestions?

TokyoK...Ive seen that pop up tent before..I love it! But..how do you hang things in it? Can you?

MagicMan...I use a kids tent. There's enough room for me and his toys and Quincy...lol. But there is enough room for him to jump from his fleece wall to me...over and over and over LOL. If you have the room, you could do either. Me personally, would get a 2 person tent. I don't think though a 2 or 4 person tent would stop the bonding. A larger tent you can add a lot more things in though smile

Lori...I'd look into the tent TokyoK has...it looks perfect for what you are looking for!!

As long as I fit, I think my gliders are happy.

I don't have the tent shown... but I have sewn Keyrings to my tent so that I could easily hang things and change it around if need be!! Best Idea I ever had! I have a Giraffe tent that is mostly screen I have put some fleece in the neck of it so they can climb into there!!

I just got my tent today and it's huge compared to what I imagined it would be. LOL jump dance I can't wait to try it out! jump

It looks awesome, the only thing that worries me is how durable the screen material is and it holding it's shape. But, only time will tell.

This is what I have for my gliders, not so much for bonding (but I think would be great for it), but for general playtime as something different than their cage. You can put all kinds of stuff in there with you, hang stuff from the top, etc.

It is awesome and taller than the "Bonding Tents" are but gliders "love tall", and I can stand in it, sit in it, hose it out. We LOVE IT!!!!! thumb
Pat

Here are some cheaper versions but I have never seen them???

Tent time is a great way to bond with your gliders. It provides a safe place for them to come out and play with you. You sit in the tent with them and some toys for them to play with and climb on, and eventually they start using you as their human tree! Sometimes it takes a while for them to want to explore you, so you might need to be patient. When first starting out, the best thing to do is take them into the tent in their sleeping pouch a little before they'd normally wake up. Then when they wake up they can come out and explore a whole new world - which includes you! Some people also use a glider-proofed bathroom for bonding time. It just depends on your preference and what you've got available. The idea is to have a space big enough for you to be comfortable, but small enough to force some interaction with you. No matter where you're having bonding playtime, just be sure it is totally safe for your gliders - no way to get hurt or escape.

As far as when you can start, you'd usually want to wait until you've had your gliders for a couple weeks and they are used to your voice and their environment. Sometimes the main problem is how to get them to stop playing. When you're ready for playtime to be over, try holding their sleeping pouch up to them to get them to go in. If that doesn't work, try not to chase them too much. Also, use a piece of fleece to drop over them to catch them - it's believed to be less stressful on them than your hand.

LOL yeah...Quincy sometimes does not want to stop playing and I have to herd him into his pouch with a piece of fleece. He's also found that certain spot on my back...RIGHT in the middle so I can't reach him! He'll sit there if he's not ready to go back into the pouch...the little bugger!!

I also need to buy my own tent...I can't modify the one I have cause I borrowed it from a friend.

I safety pin things through the top with the point on the outside and i'm looking into permanently sewing things into the inside. like some fleece.
