Hey I was just wondering about this Tent Bonding everybody is talking about. What is it and when do I start that? He is 8 weeks and 5 days.
Tent time is a great way to bond with your gliders. It provides a safe place for them to come out and play with you. You sit in the tent with them and some toys for them to play with and climb on, and eventually they start using you as their human tree! Sometimes it takes a while for them to want to explore you, so you might need to be patient. When first starting out, the best thing to do is take them into the tent in their sleeping pouch a little before they'd normally wake up. Then when they wake up they can come out and explore a whole new world - which includes you! Some people also use a glider-proofed bathroom for bonding time. It just depends on your preference and what you've got available. The idea is to have a space big enough for you to be comfortable, but small enough to force some interaction with you. No matter where you're having bonding playtime, just be sure it is totally safe for your gliders - no way to get hurt or escape.
As far as when you can start, you'd usually want to wait until you've had your gliders for a couple weeks and they are used to your voice and their environment. Sometimes the main problem is how to get them to
stop playing. When you're ready for playtime to be over, try holding their sleeping pouch up to them to get them to go in. If that doesn't work, try not to chase them too much. Also, use a piece of fleece to drop over them to catch them - it's believed to be less stressful on them than your hand.
