Ok. I think I'm going to use the Darcy's diet, but I have a few questions. Can I use frozen veggies, or do they have to be fresh? How much of the fuits and veggies do I put in with the mixture (tsp, tbsp)? And is it recomended to use the Zookepper's Secret? And, I have two gliders, do I double the ingrediants? Thank you so much. Searching for a diet has been so confusing.

You do not put the fruits and vegies into the ensure mixture. The ensure is just ensure and added calcium. Most feed 1 tablespoon fruit and 1 tablespoon vegie per glider per day. Yes, they can be frozen (again, most use the mixed vegies, corn, peas, green beans and carrots). While you can put them in there frozen, I stick mine in the microwave for about 30 seconds. For some reason, it makes a difference to my gliders.

Also, make sure you use the REGULAR ensure, not the high protien or high calcium as those both also have high amounts of sodium (salt).

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />Hi Hillary,

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" />Yes choosing a diet can be confusing, but everyone here will help you out as best they can.

Frozen mixed veggies are fine (try to avoid the mix with lima beans in it, the Peas, corn, carrot and green beans works best).

The diet calls for 1 tablespoon each of the Ensure, fruits and vegetables, so for 2 gliders you simply double the portions.
You can serve the Ensure in a seperate bowl to the fruit/veg as most gliders seem to like it this way.

As for the Zookeepers Secret... that will be your decision, the diet plan doesn't call for it but soem find their gliders like a snack during the day. Try not to offer too much if you decide to use it as it will throw off the balance of the diet.

Also keep in mind to never use the chocolate Ensure and stick with the regular as the High Protein and High Calcium ones have a higher sodium level.

Hope this helps some <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

You can use Jurrasical(sp?) and can get it at PetCo. It's in a powdered form, so you don't have to worry about crushing tablets. All you have to do is measure out the correct amount. Don't know if the other pet stores carry that brand or not.

On mixing the Ensure and everything together - I know the instructions don't tell you to, so I guess it's up to the individual. I mix all of it together and so far it has worked quite well for Stryder. It does cut down on the number of dirty dishes you have to clean each day.

I know I'm full of questions, but I have just one more. Can I freeze the Ensure/Calcium mixture?

Hillary,
I tried freezing it once, but the calcium sinks to the bottom and the whole thing was bad about sticking to the ice cube trays. Still working on that particular thing. What I have ended up doing is after shaking the Ensure, I pour it into a clean jelly jar (can use a fruit jar, but found the ring and top were a problem), add the calcium, and shake vigorously. I store in the frig and each night when I get it out, I once again shake it vigorously to make sure the calcium is incorporated before measuring into a tablespoon. I have gone through two six packs for one glider and so far this has worked fine with no problems. A side note on the Ensure, I use the WalMart equivalent that Leyna suggested - it's cheaper. Just make sure you get the regular, no extra calcium, protein, chocolate, etc.

Feel free to ask questions anytime. That's one of the ways you learn.
