I would like to see lots of pictures of the mosaics and lineage. I would love to see some powdered out pictures of mosaics (full body shots if possible)
What is the differences of Mosaics? I know there are some that have very little white, some who have more white and just a little gray, some that are white with a faded gray across the back, top of head, and tail and some are ring tail.
Are the mosaics that have very little gray the ones being referred to as powdered out? Which I believe most people are calling white Mosaics? Or am I wrong?
If you want a white mosaic glider is it safe to say you should start with a white mosaic to reproduce that? Or is it just the same as other mosaics, you never know what you will get?
It would be nice to see a line of pictures showing the differences.
I believe "powdered out" refers to Platinum Mosaics like my Mowgli... he was born dark, but lightened with age just like his mommy and his joeys. Look at the pics below... you can see how a platinum MO powders out.

This is Finn with his mama Monroe......you can see how he is a little darker but Monroe looked like that when she was younger....now she is "whiter" ie powdered out
and this is Junior....he is minimally marked with a big white tip to his tail
I have photos of Cash as well who is Junior's daddy and has a beautiful ring tail but I need to switch computers
I'd call him a platinum... he has gotten lighter with age and that's a pretty good distinguishing mark of a platinum MO.
As for White MO's vs Platinum MO's I always thought that a white mo had NO markings whatsoever (except spotted ears). Anything else is just a really minimally marked mo or white variation.
Here's my minimally marked platinum mo (I don't consider him to be a white MO)

Blitzen (Twinkie's Daddy) ^^ as a baby and just before a year old. ^^ He has lightened but not as much as Twink. Blitzy is out of Aidan & Mya from Zen Exotics. When she saw pics of Blitzen she didn't think he was a plat colored mo, but he had lightened. He's a tad bit lighter now than this pic, but not a WHOLE lot.
Okay, I was also under the impression that white mo's had no marking i.e. stripe etc. But then had seen some labeled white mo that I thought were platinum.
And, for the original poster, Blitzy had a white mo before I acquired him. He was born light, but the markings where there. Now he's such a white mo he looks almost like a leu!
Crystal, I actually call her a white/plat Mo as she has both and LOTS of white, but I dont call her a true white mo as she is nowhere near like Carmella...take a look...
They are gorgeous. So do the markings of the parent help predict the markings of the joey? I have heard this question asked a few times, but don't know if I have read an answer yet.

I think there is a good chance that the markings of the parent predict the markings of the joey.... but there is that off chance that you will get something totally different!

Serendipity when she was younger. I don't know for sure how old, since I didn't have her then.
Some time later (before I got her)
Serendipity now, at 1 yr.
The breeder (Kristi) says she's powdered out to be a platinum white face mosaic ring tail. her rings now tho, are just a couple patches of a few gray hairs.
Ooh this thread makes me wish the day will come that I can adopt a mosaic or two--grrr, the wait kills me! You all have gorgeous animals!
I know what you mean. I started out thinking I just wanted a Plat glider and now have glidertist.
I am now hoping to own someday a Plat glider, white Mosaic/plat, and Cremino. These are all my dream gliders someday.
I have two gliders now from a good breeder that I am hoping when I put them together will give us a Plat glider. The wait for this is killing us too.
while waiting though, I am doing all the research I can on genetics, lineages, and breeders. I want to make sure that when the time comes and I am ready for my other dream glider, this glider is going to be tame, happy, healthy and loving. From a great breeder with good lineages.
All of my Mosaics have looked differently. Same parents but only the first set of twins looked alike. They have had less color for some reason the more she has had. The last one I thought could be a White Mo but he colored up some so he is a platinum Mo even though he only has gray hairs and no stripe.
