Hmmm: -Cleaning!! (food off the floor and walls, scrubbing poop off the plastic toys...) -Pet odor -Finding "presents" when they run around outside of the cage -[censored] out when they grab something they're not supposed to and try to eat it -Expensive vet visits -Nail clipping!!!!!! -Making evening and weekend/vacation plans around them (finding a reliable babysitter or packing them up and taking them with me....) But that's ok...definitely worth it for the playtime, cuddling, bragging about them to others like they're children, getting creative with their rept.... <3

The only thing I do not like is the barking in the middle of the night. I have BIG TIME BARKERS! I get one cage to stop then the other two will start. It is never ending they have me trained to get up when they bark. And when they see me and I talk to them they stop. Brats.

I forget to take out the previous days food dish before I go someplace and am afraid they will eat that before I get home. That's a MAJOR paranoia of mine! I've even called my ex to go over to my house and remove food bowls when I couldn't get home before they woke up! I have done this too, lately I have been able to stop on my way to Iowa and take their dishes out, but if I am running late I call Jeff and he will take them out, but he won't clean them like I do. I don't like cleaning cages, mainly because I need help getting the cages outside.

And I would also say cleaning the cages. I am a freak about their cages being clean. Every week I take apart their whole cage and clean it toys and all. And every day I wipe it down, the wheel, inside of the cage and most of all the bottom grate. I hate for them to step on old food or poop that got stuck to the wheel or cage.

The worst part for me is having one pass away. Part of your heart goes with them. the pain is unbearable, unreal, unimaginable! other than that finding a vet that will listen can be a pain in the rear.

The only thing I dislike about being a glider owner is the occasional person in the glider community who begins to believe that they are "God's gift to gliders" and then starts criticizing, nit-picking, and/or trying to control the people around them because they have become delusional enough to believe that THEIR way of doing things is the ONLY way of doing things... if they can't control you, make you do what they want, and make you do things their way... they try to make you look bad or feel bad or to discredit you. That kind of person is really the only thing I dislike... and I absolutely LOVE my gliders!!! You know some of these too lol!!!! gotta love it.

1. I haven't lost a suggie, but what I don't like about owning a sugar glider is the fear of losing one of my boys. It drives me insane to even think about it.
2. People who don't own suggies and they just cannot seem to understand our love for our babies.
3. People neglecting these beautiful fuzzbuts.
The rest I love, I love everything about them.

Saying goodbye. I have lost one glider who was 10 and saying goodbye and letting him go was the WORST thing about owning a glider I also am NOT a big fan of scrubbing cages either.

The biggest thing is cleaning the cages .The bigger breeders I don't see how they do it .Cause cleaning five is enough for me.

I hate the constant worry! I feel like all I do is check eyes and tails and noses and toes. Are they sick?? Are they eating right?? Why are they barking at 4:30 in the morning, is something wrong?? I locked the cage right...and put the toilet seat down?? ETC ETC!! I feel like I could worry myself right into a huge ulcer!!

I hate having to be away from them when I cannot bring them with me I also don't like watching my wonderful man Basil go through loosing his mate Pepper due to old age. They are between 9 and 13 years old now and it is really hard to hear an adult glider cry and cling to you because he is so lonely.

I would have to say nail clipping and not being able to really sleep in on my days off. lol. My barker, Aiko, will bark at about 5:30 am if I'm not already up and she will continue barking until I finally get up and come to the cage to look at her cute little face. lol.

Today is the first day I went to work without Tuck, and I'll tell you guys other then the nail clippings I just can't stand being away from him, I worry and had to call hubby 3 time to ask if the cage was locked, did I remember to remove last nights dish, is he sleeping still... Until he gave up put him in a pouch and brought him to me... lol
So I would say, the nails and the worry.

If you get bit by a glider you are bonded with like during nail clipping, it doesn't hurt. IMO

I love mostly everything about them, but do wish there was aneasier way to clean cages, more affordable vets and people who understand about their care better! I do worry about leaving them behind when I go to a gathering or even out for the evening! I can't possibly take them all with me and no one loves them like I do!

This is a great topic. I haven't seen where anyone who takes care of their animals says anything but that they love owning them. I've only had Lilo for a little over a month, but she is a joy. My biggest complaint is that I wish I could take her with me to work. I miss her during the day. I do agree with the other person who said that it would be nice to be able to spoil her more! Her new cage came today though, so I'm super excited about that.
