I had to remove the e-collar from Precious' neck! She must have unraveled the thread the held the padding around the neck when she was trying to groom herself. She broke it off into a very sharp point & it cut her neck,. This would have killed her, I know it, if I hadn't caught it! Thank God, she only has a small cut but no really damage, just the surface of the skin. She can still crab believe me..lol. I still have Meds. for her to make sure no infection sets in. It's also under her neck so she can't harm herself by trying to groom it.
She is now back in her cage, running in her wheel, climbing and eating with her little hands again. She was a little stiff when the e-collar came off. It's been a while since she was able to reach forward & climb.
As for her burns. All the hair has come in that is going to come, she does have a bald shot from the deepest burn. I hope she doesn't start licking because I can't put another e-collar on her until her neck has fully healed.
Wish us luck!

Oh, My! That's an important warning for people to remember -- to check the e-collar site. Because of this, and the importance of warning people about this, I'm going to move it to Real Stories.

I'm so glad to hear she's doing so well! I had to laugh at your comment about her being a little trooper, she just keeps going and going, I thought, and going and going and going, she's the energizer glider!

[:"blue"] Glider Greetings, AJ:

sounds like you may have a poorly designed E-collar. mary and Charlie h and the EVF Web site have a design that uses a moleskin padding that shouldn't come off and expose dangerous sharp edges. You might want to take a look at the design in case you need one again in the future.

Thank you Randy, I'll check it out. Just to have one on hand if needed, I would rather be prepared.
And Chey, you are so right.... ... maybe I should get her a little drum... . No, she'ld keep me up all night...

Poor Baby! I'll keep her in my prayers. If you like, I have several extra e-collars (moleskin type) from Riker and would be more than willing to mail you one. Then you can pattern more off of that one. E-mail me (address below) if you're interested. In the meantime my prayers are with you both. What a courageous little fighter you've got!

AJ...I just saw this post. Gosh, I am so sorry to hear this. I really don't know what to say except..you two just keep on rolling with the punches!!! As always, you are in my prayers and thoughts!! Precious is such an inspiration to all of us. She is truly an exceptional glider as you are an owner/mommy!! I love you both!!!!
