This is to used in the same way Gliderade is (supplement /"treat" only".. Wombaroo recommends no more than 5-10% of the total diet for Sugar Gliders.

Thanks for sharing this info. If it's not part of a recommended diet, I wouldn't use it except perhaps as a treat (only given in moderation). Mixing and matching the various plans or ingredients can throw off the overall calcium to phosphorus (Ca:P) ratios, as well as introduce other unhealthy imbalances. wink

Have you used this Kris? I know many of the Australian diets recommend using lorikeet nector once in a while - but I haven't tried it yet.

Kathy, several "recommended" diets include using Gliderade as a supplement "treat" 2-4 times per week. This would simply replace the gliderade.

Or try Goldenfeast lory/lorikeet Nectargold. For parrots, it is considered a superior product.

Obviously bird food is not good for gliders, so why/how is nectar treats for birds any better for gliders?? If there is something I missed in reading the datasheet, I apologize. Sometimes with being legally blind, it's easier to ask then try to strain and read what comes out blurry to me anyway.

I did read the post about the gliderade with the formula results and those were horrible especially when gliderade is used in the joey formula when you have to hand raise a joey.

When they say bird food isn't good -they mean seeds. And actually, I sprout seeds and feed them to my gliders as treats and the love them. People need to stop looking at what animal a product is geared for and read ingredients because that is what is important. These pellets geared for gliders have terrible ingredients and stuff gliders wouldn't even eat, but people see that it's made for glider and think "okay". High quality Cat food, on the other hand, can have great ingredients that would benefit a glider but people start screaming - it's made for Cats so it's bad for gliders. Actually, this new pellet suncoast developed basically has the same ingredients and nutritional values as many of the cat foods but because they say "glider" on it - it must be better. Lorikeet Nectar is actually used as a treat for gliders in the aussie diets because lorikeets and gliders eat similiar things - sap suckers.

Melissa, Gliderade is added to my Joey Formula simply to improve the flavor - that is why it is an "optional" ingredient wink And if you think about it, at only 1/2 tsp of Gliderade powder per recipe which yields 2.5 Tbsp of Joey Formula, it is a very minute part of the recipe.

Hey Dee... Do you happen to have the chemical analysis for Goldenfeast? I am awaiting an email but have not received it yet.

More stuff to try grin

Let me know if you think it looks good and I'll order that one. The ingredients looked good - a bit fruity!

Suz, thanks I wasn't too worried about it being in the joey formula. Lily had to have the joey formula and she turned out just fine and healthy.

Where is this stuff at, what site please?

Are you asking about the Gliderade? If so, Suz sells it! thumb
