Hubby and I went to the petstore, he didn't rush me through it this morning like I was on a timer so I actually got to look around and price some fun things. LOL! Anywhoo, they had an excercise wheel, called the Quiet Wheel, one solid plastic wheel on a base that appeared to be able to attatch to the cage. As long as it is one solid piece with no holes or cracks for little feet or tails to get hung up in, it should be safe right? Lanyard hooks, I may as well be looking for the "needle in a haystack" We went to Walmart, Target, Michaels (craft store)..nothing. I have a hammock all made and no way to hang it! We will be checking Lowe's next but what are other safe options and/or where else can I look for Lanyard hooks? Thanks, Melanie

Wal-Mart should carry the laynard hooks, usually near the beads. If you didn't already, try asking someone to point them out to you because the ones I bought came in a small bag and I was staring right at them...but couldn't find them! lol If not, almost any fabric or craft store will have them. Also, for the wheels, the main thing to look for is for nothing that can cathc the little feet or long tails. But you may want to consider looking in purchasing a wheel made for gliders. A lot of the problem with the wheels bought from the store is they are loud and have the solid running surface. Problems with the solid runnng surface are that any waste/food dropped stays in and smells the wheel up fast and there is no safge way to attach sandpaper to wheel (if you choose to use it) to help keep nails trim. If you want to order a wheel, I would definately go with the Stealth...you can't find a better wheel that that http://www.sugaraesattic.com/stealthwheels.htm

At Walmart I usually find them in the crafts section (back corner with fabrics, paints, etc)...the bags are small and blend in, so I sometimes really have to look (eyes are gettin' old too, and that doesn't help, either!). Ours keeps them in a sort of odd aisle back there, tho, if I remember right, but I can't tell you what else is there, other than I thought it was an odd place for them. I actually thought about one of those wheels for Gim (our little metal licker who needed an all plastic--I had a Stealth special made for him). They're supposed to be extremely quiet, and I didn't see anything obvious that could pose a hazard. For the money, tho, I decided to go with the Stealth, only because the running surface they are able to grip, and I didn't know how well a tailless glider would do if he slipped on a really smooth surface, especially if he peed on it, since it won't go thru and it might be slippery. If you try it, let us know how it goes.

IF you can find the hooks at Walmart..they are EXPENSIVE. I get mine off ebay...VERY good prices and tons of em..not just 2 or 4 in a pack.

If a peeing and slippery problem should arise or grip is a problem, could you put down those no skid bathtub thingies in the wheel? or perhaps sand it down to roughen it up a bit? Melanie
