Sad news...

Yesterday after I posted - Victoria took a turn for the worst. When I woke up the next morning she was very sluggish and breathing heavy. She was looking like she was very uncomfortable. She would only go a few steps and then have to rest and put her head down.

Since the lasix, her belly looked good. So that wasn't it, her little body felt really hot. I tried to give her some meloxicam for pain and I started the antibiotic that the vet gave me (Baytril) in case she had a fever from an infection.

She did not improve with either, and she stopped eating. I couldn't even get her too look at a cricket. I could barely get her to drink any liquid, even sweet tea!

I didn't go to work and I stayed with her to watch her. When she didn't improve I left to home (I was travelling for work). I wanted to get her to the vet. I knew that this was likely the end for her.

On the way home, she went over the rainbow bridge, while I snuggled her in my arms. I could tell she was having trouble breathing and I picked her up and looked her in the eyes on last time. I kept repeating to her that I loved her and that she was the best glider in the whole world. That she had been a very good girl and that she was very loved. I prayed for God to take her now, quickly, so she could go with no more pain. I tried to calm her with my voice and tell her goodbye.

Sorry for the bad news - she was very loved and will be very missed. She lived a good life - a very spoiled glider.

Thanks for everything,
Holley

Awwww, I am so very sorry. But she felt your love and carried that with her as she made her journey over the bridge. She took a piece of your heart and left of piece of hers with you. Again, I am so very sorry. Godspeed little sweetie......

I am so sorry to hear such sad news. My heart cries with yours. No glider was ever loved as much as your sweet Victoria. She died in your gentle, loving arms, hearing your reassuring voice, so sweet to her ears, knowing without a doubt, she was and still is, very loved. She will be missed greatly. The world is less bright today.
