I was wondering, do gliders like hamster balls, or those little tubey things that hamsters play in? me and my husband have a few hamsters, and were wondering for when we get a glider if they'd like those.

*also, do they like jingly stuff like keys? or rattles?*

They do like glider balls, but I'm really not sure about the hamster tubes. They're not like hamsters. They could get stuck, or not know how to get out...it's probably not a very good idea.

i've wondered about the tubes too, mine like tubes made out of fleece, so as long as the hole is big enough and is open at both ends, i don't see a problem. also, my babies get scared of things that make noise, you will just have to try out the jingly stuff

I would suggest getting a bigger ball than what is usually used for hamsters... they come in rat sized, which is more appropriate cause gliders kind of bound along when they run, rather then having more of a walking stride like a hamster (point being, they need more room). I know there's a couple of people on here that use them and love them, but i don't think i could possibly force Trout into one to save my life... tounge but, hey, whatever's your cup of tea (or your glider's, anyway...)

I don't like balls for gliders. It's probably personal preference, but, IMHO, gliders like to jump and climb (in my house, anyway), and balls don't allow that freedom. If they enjoy a wheel, mine will run part of the time, jump in it part of the time, and just go round for the ride. Again, this is personal preference.

Hey has anyone ever tried out the really long see-through ferret tunnels?? They are pretty big so I don't think a glider would get stuck in them...lol but they might take their time coming out But wouldn't it be neat to have a ton of the ferret tunnels attached all around the room? Hmmmm....I can't remember where I saw those tunnels....drat! I 'll have to look for those now.

When I had a hamster I had a huge setup with those tube-like thingies, they were really irritating, falling apart, lol then my hamster would just choose to stay in one tube and I'd have to take it all apart to get at him. lol
just my opinion---hey why not? Go for it

Ferret tunnels work very well, although I suggest not to use the hamster/gerbil tunnels as they are pretty small. Some breeds of hamsters cannot even fit in there at the full grown size. I belive a glider could get stuck in there and get their toe nails stuck in the little holes they use for ventilation.

PVC piping is also a good secondary choice. Pretty cheap and can be find at Lowe's, True Value, Home Depot, etc. Some local feed stores may carry them as well.

Rattles and jingly toys are great. Be cautious of the actual jingle bells, use the liberty bell or cow bell kind. The jingle bells have small slits that gliders can get their feet stuck in.

Have fun!

a long while ago when i was very uneducated, i kept my first glider, Gizmo in a hamster cage. The only way he could get to his nest box was going through a hamster tube. I had him in that cage for a half a month and we NEVER had any problems... He was a full grown glider, and never got stuck or anything... Actually, he really liked being in the tube... Of the many hiding places in his cage, the tube was his favorite. It couldnt have been any bigger than 3 inches across
