Hello everyone, This evening, i caught Eli and Emma Mating. I am concerned because i believe this may be too young and it may be unhealthy for Emma. Maybe others have had good experience with joeys mating early and being young parents that they can share. Eli is a het white faced boy from Sheila at www.toandfrogliders.com . He was o.o.p on July 12,2004 making him around 4 months. Emma is a het white faced female from Tonia in Akron,OH. She was o.o.p on July 29,2004 making her just about 4 months. Since they mated today, 70 days from today is Beginning of February 2005 which would make Emma and Eli both 6 months old and make them very young parents. I am just concerned and maybe someone can come along with some advice.

This is just a first for me, to have 4 month old joeys mating..Anyone else have an experience similar to this that they can share?

Do not be suprised if the wee ones do not survive. The mother to be is really just a baby herself...and the pair may breed several times befor they get the hang of how to take care of a wee one. Most of these tiny ones are lost within the first two to three weeks after they drop into pouch.
I have had a couple of males who fathered babies at 3 1/2 months oop. But the females were more mature so the wee ones survived.
Actually...it is 80 days from the time of breeding to when the babies come oop.
Hey Judie, Thanks for the advice. Actually it was something unexpected to catch them both doing that, they sure do cuddle and play a lot though. Your right, Emma is just a baby herself and she might lose it once it drops in pouch. I guess best thing to do is not get my hopes up yet! Sorry i miscalculated the days.. it's 16 days and then 70days..so around 80 days..Thanks,

Wow Javier.. they sure didn't wait around, did they? lol. Goodness Gracious...
Does anyone know... the reccomended course of action in a case like this? I have been keeping my two young ladies seperate from all male activity.. thinking it was strongly advised not to put young girls in with any boys of any age really.. otherwise just this type of thing could happen, and babies could be lost.. but.. is this accurate information? or do most people put them in together, and just expect them to know the rules? Just when I think I know enough, I find out I know nothing at all. lolol...
Javier.. keep me posted on how your little ones are coming along, and I will keep my fingers crossed for you that the babies come along and make it fine, and they are healthy and beautiful and all.. Good Luck to You and Miss Emma.
