Water Bottle Blues
By:Reg-X
I came home tonight and found my female glider (Luna) dead. It was so sad, I can't possibly begin to describe how upsetting it is to find
a cute little glider lying stiff and lifeless in the bottom of their cage.
I am a programmer and work insane hours.
After working for 32 hours I came home to find that my gliders had knocked the water bottle off the cage. I have no idea exactly
when the water bottle fell off the cage, but
the time I was gone was long enough for Luna to fataly dehydrate. My male glider Hermes was extremely dehydrated as well, but I was able to nurse him back to health.
If you plan to be away from your little friends at all, make sure you purchase a water bottle that securely fastens to the cage. I thought mine was, but obviously it
wasn't secure enough.

aww..taht is so sad. i had something similar happen. i had gotten a glider pair, and my feale was never active, teh next few days i called teh breeder whom i had gotten tehm from, and he convinced me it was because she was pregnant. i want to stay at a friends house for a day, and they have a pretty big water dish, and it is always still full form every nite when i give it to them, so i figured she was ok. she must have spilled the waterbowl, and when i came ome she was dead []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/sad.gif[/]. i had an otopsy done, and it showed she had been sick for months befor i had even gotten her, but the no water for a day had pushed her past her limit. teh male was fine, not even dehidtated, thank god! it was a trama to me, i felt so bad even thouhg teh docter told me it wasnt my fault.
Watch out for your little ones!!
thanx for listening!!
Cassie and Lonely Linus...
p.s. this was in memory of Lucy, hope you guys can prevent this from happening!!

So sorry to hear of your loss John. I know what it is to lose a sweet glider []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/sad.gif[/] That may be a good idea from Erin to have an extra water bottle. I think I will get a couple just in case and keep in their cage.
[This message has been edited by Tessa (edited 01-20-2001).]
