Hi everyone I am extremely worried and need some advice with my Smores.

Back info: 8.5 yr female, no previous issues with health, cagemates with 1 neutered male, no chance of pregnancy, been on CL diet for 4 yrs and I have owned her for 4 yrs.

Yesterday I noticed she was a bit plump on her sides, it was early in the morning, so I thought maybe she ate a lot plus I just gave her a yogie. She does tend to plump up around fall as well, so I didn't think much of it at the time.

Today I went to do a full scrub down on their cage and had her out a bit more. She's kinda antisocial and doesn't like being held or bothered much so I do not handle her daily. I found that her stomach is still larger than normal and it is firm. It feels like she has a grape on each of her sides internally. I've done some research today and believe it is bloating of some sort, I'm hoping there's no impaction internally. I read that baby simethicone gas drops can help with the bloating. I purchased that and some fruit Pedialyte( no flavorless available). I was able to give her a drop of gas drops with .03ml of Pedialyte around 2:00. I was also able to coax a few poo drops from her with a wet wipe, but no pee at that time. I noticed inside under her cloaca there seems to be a small pea sized bump that can be felt. Outer appearance is fine. She is not focusing on or grooming the area. Im not even sure if the bump is normal or not, i have never tried to initiate her pee and poo before. On top of this I've just realized in the last hour that she fails the tent test and is dehydrated. I have a vet appt in the morning and was told by the vet to push fluids and give her the foods she likes throughout the night.

She's not hissing, seems pretty normal maybe a tad easier to hold and maneuver, so maybe that's slightly lethargic. I've just been keeping a close eye on her today, but I do not know the last time she peed. I did save the few poo pieces to take to the vet.

How much fluid am I suppose to give to her? I have a 1ml dropper and can't seem to get her to take more than .2 or .3ml at a time. Is this enough? How often should this be done?

Does anyone have info on what's going on with her or been through it?

sounds like she needs to go to the vet. I am not familiar with bloating.

Does she poop and pee on her own?

I do have an appt with the vet in the morning. It's about 2hrs away and that's the earliest time I can get for her. I have not seen her pee or poop on her own. I have tried to trigger it a few times this evening, with no luck. I am using a moist clohlike paper towel and placing and or lightly rubbing it over her cloaca, is that right? Anything else I can do?

Thank you, we are at the vet now and getting xrays. Mostly she's acting ok, was active through the night and ate some as well. I'll keep you posted.

We are just home from the vet. The vet said the xrays showed a good amount of constipation and her fecal test had signs of infection. She said there weren't any signs of gastrointestinal blockage. At thus time she gave some antibiotic 2x a day for the infection ad some pain meds 1x a day to help comfort her through the bloating. She weighs 99g. I have given her the first doses for the day, she took them pretty well. She was happy to get home and back to her cagemate Falcore. I guess after we left this morning he started barking A LOT so my husband carried him around while we were gone. So he was happy she was home too. The medicine is for 5 days and we go back next Friday for a recheck. I'm really hoping things are better by then. I'm still instructed to give her fluids and watery fruit additions to her normal foods, last night is was mostly the melon trio that she ate.

Are there certain foods that she could be eating that causes constipation? She eats CL plus with salad #3 right now. They just finished salad #4 a couple weeks ago. I also have been giving a few pieces of avocado a couple times a week.

Are there any foods that you can recommend to help with constipation? Pumpkin is for diarrhea correct?

Are there any foods other than melons that could be used for the dehydration?

Thanks again everyone.

Pumpkin for gliders can help with either constipation or diharrea. It's like it helps them be more regular.

Seedless grapes in moderation is also good for hydration.

She may just have an upset due to changing salads.

I'm glad she is doing better. Just make sure to watch her go potty and poo to insure she is clearing everything out.

Thanks Dawn.. She has been going poo, fortunately she went on the vets arm because I left the sample I saved at home and was 45 minutes away before I realized. She's also had several pieces expelled since then. None of my gliders have had issues with salad changes before. They like #3 and 4 the best so I alternate those. I supose there's a first time for everything and will be on the look out when going back to #4.

The pumpkin recommended can be the can variety correct? I will go grab some in the morning along with some grapes.

Thank you for your advice.

You can cook a fresh one and freeze it, or any canned pumpkin without seasoning.

I got some plain can pumpkin today. I've tried a couple times to get her to lick off my finger but no go on that. It is daytime so maybe she just doesn't want it now. I'll try agin a bit closer to feeding time tonight.

When told to push fluids, how often and how much? I've tried giving her a Pedialyte and water mix but she only takes about .3ml at a time. Even giving her that is a struggle and I worry I'm stressing her out.

How often should I try to trigger poo/pee by using a wet wipe on her cloaca?

I was able to get her to expel 6-8 small pieces this morning around 10 and only one more around 2 but she did let out a few pee drops with that time, unlike the others.

Am I doing it right?... I moisten a wipe with warm water and wipe down her cloaca and try to rub her tummy and sides where shes puffy and firm. Ive also let it rest there for a few seconds.

How many time should i do this?

Again, she doesn't like it, but she doesn't make any sounds so I don't think I'm hurting her, Im striving to be so gentle, but it's hard to keep her still. My hands are a clawed up mess right now and I just trimmed her nails a couple days ago.
