So quite a while back, I posted a thread about saving a baby suggie, Starlight. Starlight's doing well, and I'll have to neuter him soon. After I neuter him, how do I introduce him to Luna? I placed them in a IKEA SAMLA (plastic container) with bedding for a few minutes then returned them to their cage a few times in the past...

Right now I have their cages next to each other so that they can interact with each other through the bars. I also swapped pouches and cages a few times. I'm planning to do a complete clean on Starlight's cage (since it's slightly smaller than Luna's cage due to the fact that Starlight is still not fully grown.) and place both of them inside of the cage, and supervise them for the next few days and clean Luna's cage and let them live there next. Should I do this? is there a better way to introduce them?

Side note: When I placed them in the SAMLA, they looked like they were trying to show dominance over the other, but didn't fight at all. I also remember a time when Starlight jumped to Luna's cage when I accidentally left his cage door open. They seemed to be nipping at each other's "hands".

Have you read this?

Introductions are best in the morning when they are tired. Be sure to check on them during the day and be especially watchful when it's dinnertime.

Good to hear from you again, and I remember your little ones Luna and Starlight.

Dawn has given you some good advice. That is a very good article to read about introductions.

Please keep us updated on their progress.

Sooooo I have them both in the bonding pouch right now... They're not crabbing at all, They aren't harming each other, and overall, they're pretty good with this. I just washed Starlight's cage and now I'm waiting for it to dry so that I can let them live in there. I might take them (in the bonding pouch) to dinner with my family later, it depends on my parents.. XD

Update: They both made it through their first night!!! I'll continue to keep them in the smaller cage for a few days, then I'll transfer them to the larger one.

Another Update, today I put them both in the bonding pouch again, they were doing fine the first couple of minutes, but then they started making a certain noise that sounded like they were sniffing and crabbing, so I put them back in the cage. When I did, Star when straight to sleep but Luna was still running about in the cage so I seperated them for a minute and reintroduced Luna. then they started making the strange noise again so I have seperated them for now... What should I do??

They we're trying to get comfy. And they may have been figuring out who was gonna sleep where, one might be voicing get your foot out of my face, or your breathing on my tail. Some nioses are normal. If one of them come out, he may have been kicked out because he was squirming too much.

Be sure to offer 2 pouches with blankies overnight. That way if one wants some space, the other has a place to sleep...

If you feel uncomfortable with the noises they make, you can separate them at night and put them together to sleep during the day. They will have to work out their sleeping arrangements at night.

Dawn is correct about the noises when they are first in the pouch. I would suggest giving them some more time to get settled before removing them to separate spaces. It is not unusual for gliders to take a little time to get situated in 'bed' much like it does some of us at night.

Unless you hear what sounds like high pitched crabbing along with a large scale battle inside the pouch, I would let them work it out. You can peek in to make sure they are just getting settled wink

I agree with Karen and Dawn, I hear those noises all the time. They are complaining because one of them is trying to get the property at the bottom of the pouch. That is the preferred sleeping spot, specially when there are 3 or more gliders in the pouch. They all want to be the one at the bottom of the pile.

Okay guys, thanks for the feedback. I do use 2 pouches for them. They are now living together again and will soon live the the larger cage. Thanks all!
