I feed 2.5 tbs for 3 Gliders. I have 2 4 year olds who don't eat as much nectar, and 1 that is 6 months oop. 1 batch lasts about 22 days.

Maybe 3-4 gliders. I've found an adoption website and they sell pairs. Would the brisbane cage still work for 4 if it came down to it?

Yes it will. When it comes to toys and extra hammocks, less is more space.

If you go to the critterlove website, I believe Peggy still has calculators there which will help you figure out how much of the various Critterlove product you will need for various size colonies. Just insert the number of gliders you have, the amount of time you'd like it to last, & the product you're considering. You should be able to play around with the settings to get fairly 'official' answers.

Oooo, I found the calculators. According to them, 1 lb of Plus will feed 4 gliders for 4 months. I might just go all in and buy a 5 pound bag, because it says that will last 1 year and 8 months for 5 gliders.

It's cheaper to just buy a 1 lb bag every 4 months, than it is to buy a 5 pounds bag. Doing the math in a time frame of 14 months, that's how long the the 5 lb bag lasts, the 5 lb bag costs $132. If a 1 lb bag lasts 4 months and costs $29 then multiply that by 3.5 and you get roughly $101. You save around $30 buying the 1 lb bags. But then taking shipping into consideration, I need to do a little more math on that to see which one is a better price.

With shipping involved now, the 1 lb bags with total to be about $151 for 14 months. The 5 lb bag totals at around $146. So it actually turns out that the 5 lb bag is cheaper. I was wrong in the first part of this.

Actually scratch all that lol. The best deal is the 2 lb bag. With everything mentioned above added in, the total is only around $126 for 14 months. The 2 lb lasts 8 months, and 14 divided by 8 is 1.75, so you would multiply $55.75 (the cost of the 2 lb) by 1.75 and get $112, but then you have to add the shipping in which is $28.48 (because you have to buy 2 bags in 14 months, so times shipping by 2) which in total adds up to about $126.

Ya, those were the two I was looking at lol. I was basing all of my calculations on that second link. And one thing about my calculations, I must have been really tired because I forgot to add the second part of the shipping onto the total for the 2 lb. In total it should be around $141 not $126.

Colt,

Just a little tip that will help the rest of follow your musings & questions: Rather than share an on-going commentary across four seperate posts within 20-ish minutes, please just edit your last post.

I had to read your series several times to figure out what you decided/were asking.

Just a thought to help us help you.

With the critterlove salad calculator.. Thing.. Is the meals to prepare like a meal for all 4? Or is it a meal for 1? Like if I put in 4 gliders and I need to prepare 10 meals, is that giving me 10 meals for all 4 or for singular gliders.

With the CL diet, can I still give treats? (Mealworms, crickets, a piece of exotic fruit, etc.) And is it better to buy as a Joey or does it not matter? Will an older glider still bond as well as a Joey?

I really can't help you more with the diet calculator as I am feeding so many gliders that a whole batch of salad lasts three days and Plus is mixed 2 double batches at a time and they stay in the fridge.

You could say that I only know how to cook for an army not a single person.

Please post your bonding questions in the bonding&Relations forum.

If you put in four gliders, then a 'meal' is for the four. It's like planning for the family dinner: If you need to feed a family of four, you prepare enough food for the four of you to have dinner. Make sense?

Please look over the different forums under Glider Care with their descriptions of what is discussed in each so you can post your questions in the appropriate forum.

It gets really confusing when all these different topics, i.e. diet, cages, bonding, etc. are all asked in the diet Forum agree

Some of our members only look through certain forums because that is where they feel they have the most to offer. diet may not be theirs, but your other questions might be.

Thanks.

Yes. But in moderation. Use treats for bonding purposes.

I do cheat night once in awhile too when I give less of their meal and add a boiled or scrambled egg, boiled chicken wing tips or feet, full slice of pumpkin, watermelon, cantalope, or an extra helping of a favorite fruit or veg.

As far as which is better, Joey or adults, it depends on the glider.

How would I cook the eggs while doing the plus route? Just in raw coconut oil?

I microwave my eggs and use water in a glass container and cook for 40 seconds, then mix and another 40 seconds or boil them/either way works.

I just put mine in a glass dish, whip them a bit with a whisk and microwave them, Peggy adds a little milk.

Oh, good to know. I don't know why I didn't think of that lol. So just 3 scrambled for the plus diet correct? I'm still getting about 10-15 eggs a day (depends on if it's rainy or not). So I think I'll be ok in that part. I want to start my own bee boxes but my mom won't let me. If I were to do that I would have unlimited honey as well. Well, as long as they produce. Do bees not produce during the winter? I'm going to have to look into it more.

Be sure to check the Critterlove recipe for how many eggs you need thumb

There are many things that can ago wrong with your own bee boxes. I would never depend on a few boxes for a honey supply. You have to really know what you are doing.

Sorry I haven't been as active lately. Schools been kind of rough lately lol. And I wish my neighbors had hives, that would be so convenient and cool. My friend has a hive, but he lives on the other end of the city, and he only has 1 hive so his family keeps the honey. I yes I confirmed it lol, it calls for 3 eggs in the diet.
