I have two gliders a mother and son. The mother is around 6 years old and the son is around 4 years old. The male was neutered as soon as he was old enough. About once every six months or so he will start biting his mother. It will start as a little bite and if I can catch it the same day I will separate them because he will keep over grooming it a making it worst. This time he has done it under her arm and I did not catch it in time. I have since put them in separate cages. When I do this it like they both get depressed from being apart but I can't leave them together because the spot will never heal. Why does he do this and what suggestions does anyone have. Also is there something anyone recommends to put on the wound. I'm going to take her to the vet today to just get her checked out but wondering what everyone else does. Thanks for your help.

I use Quick Derm. Others use vetricyn spray. I do plan on getting vetracyn spray too.

Your vet will have recommendations too. It needs to be something they can lick and clean because they groom like cats do.

If you go to the vet, do not let them sew her up. it has to heal from the inside out.

She could get a large abscess it it is sewn up.

Getting Microcyn or vetericyn spray and spray it at least twice a day and it will heal up.

These are dominance wounds.

Thank you the vet did not sew her up but gave me clavamox and then gave we silver sulfadiazine to apply once a day. I have a cone to put on her if I need to but the bite spot is under her arm (like in your arm pit) and he did think it was her that was messing with it. Now I have to keep them apart until it heals.

I don't think she is messing with it either. When I separate mine for dominance wounds the wounded one heals up. So it is the cage mates are the ones making it bigger by trying to clean it up.
