Haiii! I brought home my wonderful- though BRATTY gorgeous true plat mo boy a few days ago!!! I've ALWAYS wanted gliders but had only worked with SICK rescue suggies to get healthy and be rehomed. SO NOW I have a HEALTHY baby and am buying enough for a colony of 87 to spoil him to bits! (AM in search for a buddy no worries- do not plan to keep him alone; just looking for the perfect match) ANYWAYS one of the kagillion things I've found are these Welch's fruit gummies made with ONLY real fruit- which SEEMS like it should be fine but much better safe than sorry! They're the PERFECT size all tiny with a great deal of vitamins. HOWEVER I just wanted to double check because if I were to mess up I'd NEVER forgive myself!

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH!!!

Congrats on your new joey!

I've never fed gummies, but let me do a little digging around to see if they are OK.

Congratulations on your new beautiful boy. You say he is very healthy, so let's talk about keeping him that way agree

These fruit gummies are made for human children for treats/snacks marketed as real fruit for parents who do not want to give their children products with additives or processed products. They should never be used in place of true vitamins or real fruit shakehead They are sticky when chewing and IMO, should not be given to gliders except possibly as a VERY occasional treat.

Your little fella needs REAL fresh/frozen fruit chopped up in pieces he can hold in his little hands or that he can chew on himself.

On top of that he needs a stable diet of a staple plus veggies and fruits every day. Have you chosen what you are going to feed this precious little one to keep him healthy?

Oh heavens hun I'm so sorry I wasn't specific! I know how intricate the diets are. I'm currently using the BML but considering slowly switching to HPW as I hear it's better? DEFINITELY plenty of fresh veggies and fruits, meal worms, all the good things. No worries, I was ONLY considering the gummies as a RARE occasional treat but wanted to be sure even one wouldn't cause any harm first! To be honest I figured if they ARE okay and he tries and likes tiny cut up bits it might help the bonding if he takes them from my hand like he licks off tiny bits of organic pure apple sauce from one finger while I pet him with the rest of my hand very slowly. tounge

Thanks everyone for the input! I'll be very careful and might forget the idea all together if there's any worries; just a thought I figured other people might wonder too!

Thanks again!

You can use yoggies or white chocolate baking chips (which actually have NO chocolate in them at all) for bonding treats. You can also use mini marshmallows for occasional treats wink

Those gummies also tend to get stuck in the teeth,
and I'm not sure how good gliders would be at dislodging them dunno

I'll ex-nay the gummies and hit Harris Teeter! I SO appreciate your advice and the point of them sticking in his teeth made my mind up! I've looked almost EVERYWHERE for yoggies and for the life of me can't find them so might order them online as my boyfriend has temporarily banned me from petstores- with good reason after I've been going on shopping sprees like every other day waiting to bring home my fuzzy. XP

THANK YOU EVER SO MUCH! I'm SO glad I did the smart thing and asked first!

As I mentioned these white baking chips can be used in place of the yoggies. You can find them in your grocery or discount store baking department. You need not buy the most expensive as in the link I gave. They do NOT contain any chocolate, thus making the safe for gliders :thumb2:

I was told at the SGGA, that I should cut the mini marshmallows in half, and lick the powder coating off, and they will eat them, then.
Mine never touched them until I did this. I guess they must not have liked the powder.
Treats are always to be given occasionally, tho. Their tummies are so small. Pine nuts are good for them, also.
And mine do get a mealworm every morning from Larry
