Charlotte is running in circles at the top of the cage. She's been doing it for about an hour now. It's really scaring me because she & Genevieve are usually such hard sleepers all day. But this is the second time she's done this today.
any ideas what it could be?

I'm sorry no one has responded, and I'm afraid I don't have an answer for you either as to what might be causing this.

Have you noticed anything else out of the ordinary with her? How has see been eating? Activity level?

All I can offer is to watch her very closely to make sure she stay hydrated and if she continues the behavior, make an appointment for tomorrow since we are going into the weekend. I would not wait until next week.

I just checked on the girls. Charlotte was laying on a corner hammock by herself with her head hanging off.
I reached in to get her and she didn't run away. I was able to pick her up fairly easy. Once I had her, she got squirmy but stayed on me. So I got the bonding pouch out. She went right in, curled up, and is sleeping now. Usually she takes off to explore.

She's been eating/pooping/peeing fine. She's put on some weight in the past 2 weeks. Genevieve is not displaying any abnormal symptoms.

The only thing different that I can think of, and this may be the problem, is that I let them roam free in my room with me for the 1st time. Genevieve just went in my shirt and snuggled up, but Charlotte set out on her own by herself. She ended up hiding down in the bottom of a clothes basket. Maybe the lone excursion scared her?

It must have been yesterday's field trip that freaked her out. Too much freedom I guess. She's fine today, just a little skiddish. I opened the cage to let them out but she decided to stay in the cage and go to bed in her pouch instead. Genevieve came out and got in my shirt and went to sleep after grooming and nibbling my bra strap to her standards.
I love these girls. mlove

I am by no means an expert ~ not even close, but I saw a video where a glider was doing that and they said it was because they didn't have enough stimulation; like toys and foraging stuff to occupy their minds. Do you have plenty of things for them to play and explore with in their cage? (Just a question, please don't take offense- I don't know what your setup is like.)

no offense taken! actually that's not a bad suggestion. come to think of it, I do need to change up their cage.
I wish they'd use their wheel. They just like to get on top of it and roll off. I think I might take it out for a while and then re-introduce them to it.

What size cage are they in?

I wouldn't recommend taking their wheel out. It's the main source of exercise for glider and a necessary part of their routine. They may use it more than you think.

just a thought, but I have found that with my sweethearts, especially Soda, when they want me to take them out or when they want to come snuggle up with me they will do the same thing... SOda especially likes to slam about from one side of the cage to the other and then runs frantically in circles on the top of the cage cause she knows no matter WHAT im doing... when her bulk hits the top of the cage like a miney freight train... I can HEAR it... and I come running to make sure my cat hasnt gotten out (pips has her own room and space, isnt alowed to go outside or into theliving area where the cages are kept) or the dogs havent disturbed my babys (we have two toy poodles... they are older and dont mind much nof anything.. LOL). smile She then drops to where my face is peering in and proceeds to stick her little hand out of the cage and grasp at me... LOL!

Last night she did that and then, once I opened the cage, she shot out to my hand turned three circles and jumped back in the cage... when I looked down at my hand... she had safely deposited baby momo in my palm!!! Guess that was her way of telling me it was time for me to learn to baby sit!!

Once she was done eating she came back out again, settled in my hand on her back and proceeded to groom my thumb then the baby and, once he was safely reattached... she hauled hiney for her pouch in the cage and proceeded to sing to him. LOL!

Sometimes I think they just do things to get your attention.
