First question… What's up with all the lap circles on top of the cage and tent? Does that mean something or is that just them getting exercise? lol

Second question… Does anyone else have toe biters on their hands!?!? One of my gliders LOVES to bite my toes….HARD! Why does she do that?

1. Circles/back flips usually means boredom. You may want to consider putting some more enrichment toys in the cage for them to keep them a little more entertained smile

2. YES! Momo is not only a toe/finger biter, but she also bites ears and noses. USUALLY hand biters are telling you to stop something, but Momo just likes seek out things she can curiously nibble. After a few months of being consistent with pst pst and cht cht noises (and if necessary, a light blow in the face) she finally cut it out for the most part. Now her bites never, ever hurt.

My male is the only one that does the laps at the top of the cage. I feel that he's left out because my two females go off together and play, so…I think he might need a male buddy wink

What types of toys would you recommend?

It's possible it's a sign of boredom - but that's usually when there's a single glider in a cage by themselves.

Check out this thread on toys:

Just wanted to point out that the gender of the gliders (as long as males are neutered) will not matter. So getting a male specifically may or may not change things.

I was told along time ago, that when a glider does this, they are highly stressed.
They probably would need more toys to play on,in &/or with.

This is what they have in their cage right now

Baby links
Hanging wood blocks with bell on end
Floor toys such as whiffle balls, a baby ball with bell in it, a pale bucket, a raptor wheel
Rectangle and Corner hammocks
Cube
Pouch

And now I made the thing I showed in the picture above which will hang from the top of the cage

Along with a whiffle ball which will hang from a string from a shelve along with fleece wrapped in it with beads hanging down.

Also with a new ball pit

This is A LOT more than what they had with their previous owners.

I provided them with an a cage that is probably at least 5 times bigger, actual toys, and actual FLEECE pouches.

I heard the same thing Josefine, but I just don't understand how they could be stressed/bored/depressed with all of these great new toys and things! I've had them since March and have gradually been changing things because I know a lot of changes WILL stress them out…but, I just don't get it. Also, I added foraging things for food. We will see how this goes tonight! If anyone has any other suggestions PLEASSEEEEE reply!

Foragers! You could even add some plastic shot glasses from the dollar store to that toy you just made and give them something to forage for at night (dried fruit, a few nuts, even some mealies if you're sure they will stay in the cups and won't fall on your floor LOL). Also, I have a wiffle ball hung with plastic chain with fleece stripps tucked through all the holes, they love yanking the fleece out and nesting with it! Both toys keep them busy most of the night :O)

Amy, I think you read my mind! LOL! I did foraging cups last night AND after I made the toy I posted above, I started the whiffle ball idea. I stuck fleece through two holes and then tied beads on the end. Then, I'll be doing a whiffle ball with just fleece through the holes. After that, I'll do a straw one! I think I'll still have to purchase some from vendors on here though because I'm really not creative enough lol!

He could still be feeling uneasy w/being w/you.
He was used to everything w/whom you adopted him from,everything/one was familiar to him.
Sometimes there are setbacks to bonding processes, too.
Maybe it mite be better to just slow down,& give them more space for just another nite,or two?
bonding,many times,can be so much like a see-saw.
Hopefully things will get better for him soon.

I would really keep an eye on them besides being stressed or depressed it is my understanding that sometimes gliders will do circles and such as a response to pain.

It sounds like he's just a little bored to me - something pretty simple and easily taken care of. smile More toys, more enrichment things and he definitely needs some more stimulation and things to do in the cage. Hammocks, pouches, etc. are great for them to lounge, but they don't provide the kind of enrichment they need to keep them busy, occupied and happy.

Remember to check out some of the vendors here and the toys they make. I recommend Davie (Spoiled Rotten Suggies) and Val (Glider Pals).
