When I had visited JoAnn's fleece department, I noticed that there were two types of fleece, blizzard and anti-pill. I know very little about fabric so hopefully, someone can answer these questions for me below smile

What is anti-pill fleece?
What is blizzard fleece?
Is one better than the other?
When making cage sets, which should I purchase?
Which should I use when making blankets for people?

Anti-pill fleece is exactly what it sounds like, fleece that doesn't pill up. Blizzard fleece does.

The difference is that anti-pill is better. Pilling is when the fabric bunches up into little balls and falls off. (If you've ever had a cheap fleece blanket, that's what those nasty little fuzzies are)

Anti-pill is safer for gliders, because it's less likely to cause them harm, so I always make mine out of anti-pill.

When making blankets for people, go for either. ;D It really depends on how much you like the person. "Do I want this to pill or not?" as well as prices, and patterns. Usually anti-pill is more expensive.

I do not think one is better than the other. I've seen some BAD anti-pill fleece. Blizzard is a namebrand for fleece. There are a few more like polar, fireside, etc. Anti-pill is fleece that is not *supposed* to pill the way regular fleece will. It does not - usually - but the cheap stuff still will. Regardless of what kind you are buying, you will need to examine the fleece closely and decide for yourself if it is safe for your cages. Joann's has anti-pill and Blizzard both at 40-50% off on the current sale add, so price will be about the same for either unless you are buying licensed prints.

Anti-pill is more like "pill-resistant." I agree with you. I do think that anti-pill is better, because it is less likely to pill, and more likely to be safe. Of course inspection is a good idea, I didn't mention it because I assumed it was kinda understood. XD

I didn't know about how fleece is known to "pill" and I didn't even know people used that term for that. I felt stupid for asking.. but I needed to know.. lol

Don't feel stupid for asking! wink It's how we learn things!

And there IS another kind of fleece: ultra cuddly or sometimes it's called "soft and cozy". It almost looked like short-shaved fake fur. DON'T BUY THAT FOR MAKING ANYTHING THAT GOES INSIDE A GLIDER CAGE!!!! You want to talk about something that balls up into a dangerous mess! shakehead Now....it's OK to use as the outside part of a bonding pouch, but it's a MESS when you cut it (you get little fuzzy foofs EVERYWHERE) and it pills REALLY REALLY BAD when gliders go rubbing their bodies on it.

Save that stuff for a human you love a LOT. mlove
